University event calendars with DATES!
Use categories for academic calendar, athletics, concerts, etc.
Universities have many departments, and these departments often schedule their own events. With DATES!, you can set up a single master calendar with multiple categories. Everybody needs to see the "academic calendar," so that's an obvious category. But each department may need its own event categories as well.

With DATES!, the athletic department can have its own categories for athletic events, like "football, baseball, soccer, tennis, swimming," etc.  At the same time, the Arts and Sciences departments can have their own event categories, like "lectures, conferences, faculty meetings, orals," etc.  Professional schools can have their own event categories, as can libraries, museums, performing arts centers, and other units on campus.

Links to your calendar can be set to display any combination of these different event categories.  You can have some web pages display all event categories, others display only selected categories appropriate to a particular department, and still others display all but certain designated categories.

You can authorize departmental units to enter events directly into your calendar, or you can have them enter events into the "holding bin," (described below) to await approval from central administration before being announced publicly.

DATES! offers tremendous flexibility for the heterogeneous university environment.

 Use an event "holding bin"
It's easy to set up DATES! so that many different people can enter events into a calendar "holding bin." These events do not actually appear on your calendar until they are approved by a designated event approver. You can create up to three different types of approvals, such as "Spelling and grammar," "Provost authorization," and "Room reservation."

You can have different offices or staff members authorized to provide these different types of approvals, or you can consolidate all approvals into a single office.

DATES! automatically sends daily email notices to event approvers if there are any events in the holding bin that await approval before posting.

 Bypass software installation headaches
DATES! runs on the Hardy Systems calendar server. There's nothing to install on your university's servers, so no approvals are needed from your information technology group or computer center. No hardware or software maintenance is required--ever.

Or the information technology department can sign up for service itself and have a fantastic, university-wide web events calendar ready to go in minutes. Wow: successful software development, on a predictable budget, in practically no time--you'll be the campus hero for a change.  :-)

Using DATES! is a win-win proposition for all units on campus.

 Rejoice in reasonable pricing
Universities are not usually made of money. That's why the even the full-featured version of DATES! costs only $125 per month. And remember, that price offers an incredible range of features, including no installation or maintenance, no requirement for information technology department approval, up to 100 different event categories, multiple-department event entry with or without the holding bin approval system, and only 15 minutes to set up an account and get started.

A reduced-feature version of DATES! is only $75 a month, and a very simple, upcoming-events-only calendar is just $25 a month. (Details on these different price plans are available here.)

Best of all, if you're not sure that DATES! will work for your university, you can try out the full-featured version for a month, absolutely free. If you don't find it the easiest, quickest, most flexible, and most useful web events calendar available anywhere, then just cancel service within the month and pay nothing.

There's simply no risk to you--or to your budget.

DATES! It just works!
